Answer three quick questions and the calculator recommends the smallest EcoBox container that fits your project. It also estimates the weight of your load against the included allowance and shows an estimated total.
The size calculator is loading. If it does not appear, call or text (847) 252-1111 and we will size your project with you.
The result is an estimate, not a quote. Final weight is measured on the disposal facility’s scale. Current rates are on our pricing page.
How the calculator works
It adds up the volume of everything you enter, in cubic yards, then adds a little room to spare so the load sits below the top edge of the container. One full-size pickup-truck load is roughly 2.5 cubic yards, which is where the pickup-load comparisons come from.
It then estimates weight using typical figures for each kind of debris and compares that with the weight allowance included with the recommended size. When the estimate runs over the allowance, you see the likely extra-weight cost as a range. Add your ZIP code and the estimate also shows whether you are in our core service area or whether a mileage charge applies.
EcoBox container sizes
| Dumpster | Holds about | Dimensions | Typical projects |
|---|---|---|---|
| 10-Yard | 4 pickup-truck loads | 14′ L × 7.5′ W × 3′ H | Garage or attic cleanout, single-room remodel, roofing tear-off |
| 15-Yard | 6 pickup-truck loads | 14′ L × 7.5′ W × 4′ H | Basement or multi-room cleanout, medium remodel, flooring removal |
| 20-Yard | 8 pickup-truck loads | 14′ L × 7.5′ W × 5.5′ H | Whole-home cleanout, large renovation, construction debris |
Two kinds of load the calculator treats differently
Roofing always goes in the 10-yard
Shingles are dense. They reach the weight allowance long before they fill a larger container, so roofing tear-offs always go in the 10-yard. For a large roof the calculator tells you when to plan a swap partway through the job.
Dirt, rock, concrete and asphalt need a quick conversation first
The calculator does not pick a container for loads that are mostly dirt, rock, concrete or asphalt. Call or text EcoBox before ordering so we can confirm whether we can accommodate the material and the load.
More than one 20-yard load?
If the project is bigger than a 20-yard, plan on a swap. Every swap is a new rental: a new 7-day period and a new weight allowance, at the current rate. Call or text us and we will help you plan it, or request a swap online once your first container is full.
Before you book
- Check what can go in the container, including the items that carry a fee.
- Check your ZIP code for our core service area and any mileage charge.
