- Roofing debris, which always goes in the 10-yard container
- Appliances that do not contain Freon: washers, dryers, stoves and similar
- Yard waste: grass, leaves, brush, branches and similar yard debris

10-yard dumpster only
- Dirt
- Rock
- Concrete
- Brick
- Asphalt
Dirt, rock, concrete, brick and asphalt are very heavy, so they go in the 10-yard dumpster only, whatever the total amount; a larger quantity means more than one 10-yard load, never a larger container. Call or text (847) 252-1111 to confirm the material and load details before ordering.
Empty latex paint cans
An empty household latex paint can with the residue fully dried and the lid off is accepted. Cans with liquid left in them, oil-based residue, solvents and any aerosol can are never accepted, and none of this extends to commercial paint waste.

- Gasoline, propane, oils and other flammable materials
- Paint and aerosol cans: wet paint, oil-based paint and stain, varnish, thinners, solvents and every aerosol can, including commercial paint waste
- Batteries
- Appliances containing Freon, including refrigerators, freezers, air conditioners and similar
- TVs, computer monitors and other electronics
- Liquids of any kind
- Herbicides and pesticides
- Toxic or corrosive materials
- Asbestos
- Contaminated soil
- Hot ashes or coals
- Ammunition
- Medical or biohazardous waste
- Animal carcasses
- Radioactive materials
Where to take items we cannot accept
In Lake County, the Solid Waste Agency of Lake County (SWALCO) lists drop-off and collection options for household chemicals, paint, batteries and electronics. Elsewhere, check your county or municipal household hazardous waste program. Refrigerators, freezers and air conditioners need their refrigerant recovered before disposal, so ask the retailer delivering your new appliance or a local scrap-metal recycler.
