Overview of Dumpster Sizes
When it comes to dumpster rentals, understanding the available sizes is essential. EcoBox Dumpsters offers a variety of dumpster sizes to accommodate different project needs. Here’s a breakdown of the most common sizes:
This table illustrates the dimensions, capacities, pricing, and included weight for each dumpster size, helping you visualize what will work best for your project. The 10-yard dumpster is ideal for small cleanouts or minor renovations, while the 20-yard dumpster is suited for moderate renovation projects or yard cleanups.
Matching Dumpster Sizes to Project Types

Choosing the right dumpster size is not just about dimensions; it’s about matching the size to the type of project you are undertaking. Here are some common project types and the recommended dumpster sizes:
- Home Renovations: For kitchen or bathroom remodels, a 15 or 20-yard dumpster is typically sufficient.
- Landscaping Projects: A 10-yard dumpster can handle yard waste and debris from small landscaping jobs.
- Construction Sites: For new builds or major renovations, a 20-yard dumpster is often sufficient to accommodate the volume of waste generated. If your project is larger, consider renting multiple dumpsters or consulting with EcoBox to determine the best option.
Understanding these matches can help you avoid overpaying for a larger dumpster or underestimating your needs and having to rent an additional one.

Other questions people ask when picking a size
Do I need a permit?
Only if the container goes on the street or other public property, and the permit is the customer’s responsibility – EcoBox does not obtain permits. On your own driveway you normally do not need one. Rules and fees are set by each municipality, so check with yours before delivery. The permit guide has the detail.
How long can I keep it?
Seven days are included. After that it is $20 per day, counted through the day we actually collect the container rather than the day you asked. Pickup is not automatic: ask us when you are finished and collection is usually the next day, sometimes the same day, depending on the schedule.
What if I go over the included weight?
Additional weight is $100 per ton, based on the weight recorded on the disposal facility scale ticket. The included weight is what the price covers, not a limit on what the truck will take. Current figures are on the pricing page.
What can I put in it?
Household junk and furniture, construction and remodeling debris, appliances without Freon, and yard waste, which can be mixed with other accepted debris. Concrete, brick, dirt, rock, asphalt and roofing debris go in the 10-yard container only, whatever the total amount – a larger quantity means more than one 10-yard load rather than a bigger container. The full accepted and prohibited lists are on what can go in a dumpster.
